Continuing with last weeks theme on email marketing, newsletters and list building, here is another example we implemented for our client in Crieff, Yumm Naturally.  Nadine makes her own face and body care products and natural soap - they are lovely! We did her website a year ago and provide monthly support to add blog posts, products, images, special offers etc and we try to encourage regular updates. Recognising the benefits of building an email list, we suggested Nadine use her soap samples as a 'giveaway' in turn for people signing up for her regular newsletter. The process was simple:

  • we created a landing page for newsletter sign ups
  • customers provide their email and home address
  • Nadine sends them the soap sample
  • they get added to her mailing list

As well as increasing the number of people on her mailing list, the key benefits of this scheme are:

  • people are getting something simply for providing their email address
  • Nadine is getting her product in front of customers who want her product
  • the customers uses the product and will either like it or not
  • a month or so later, the customer gets a newsletter relating to this product they have tried - if they liked it, they may just order more
  • they receive regular monthly emails relating to a product they've tried and trust
  • there is potential for them to purchase gifts etc for Christmas/birthdays

The key with this set up is getting the product to a new customer who uses it, hopefully likes it and then a trusted customer relationship can form.

This is an example of email list building and customer relationship development, a great element of internet marketing.
